Why is the sky blue, sunsets red, and water blue/green?

Ok, so I certain it has something to do with wave lengths, the angle of the earth to the sun, and refraction but I don't to the letter recall how it all works and what not.

sky is blue as when chalky light incident on it all other colors get refracted away and only the blue color is allowed to insert and thus it is perceived by our eyes. During sunset the density of the air changes and thus the optical density also changes this results in the transmittal
