Mamas, if you let your babies breed up to be really, really
good football players, here's a marketing tip: Give them a Roman numeral III at
the end of their name.
It may not make out them more appealing to the sneaker company
near Beaverton, but it just may devise them the cat's meow with Adidas, land of
the Three Stripes. Oh, winning the Heisman Trophy helps, too.
From its North American headquarters in North Portland,
Adidas has announced a "partnership" with 2011 Heisman Wreath winner and former
Baylor University. quarterback Robert Griffin III.
"Adidas is a peerless fit for me," Griffin
said in a news release, which consistently referred to him as "Griffin III."
"They are always focused on the athlete first and that's
noteworthy for the way I play and the way I train," Griffin said in the release.
"I'm excited to be part of the Adidas relatives."
Griffin, who was also named Associated Press
College Football Punter of the Year and a consensus first-team All-American, is
expected to be a top NFL draft pick.
